On Thursday the 24th June 2021, the NetMonkeys Troop tuned in to the Microsoft Windows 11 Live Event. We've put together a list of 6 announcements that we're really excited about!
1. A Fresh New Interface
As expected we have a remodel of the Windows Interface. A cleaner and more 'transparent' look with the Apple and Samsung-like rounder edges on all Windows. It's very fresh!
The Windows 11 Interface is slicker, faster, and has a big focus on touch. On-screen gestures like we’re used to on our trackpads are a nice addition and make using your hands to navigate more intuitive. Bigger touchpoints on windows make moving from mouse to finger much easier.
2. Microsoft Teams is built-in...
We saw Apple take Facetime towards Teams with screen sharing and meetings and now Microsoft is doing the opposite. Teams is becoming more like Facetime! A big push for personal use here...
3. Snap layouts...
Snap layouts have arrived. Multi-tasking apps are a thing of the past! You can now create a layout of apps and switch projects rather than app for app. This feature will promote a multi-desktop way of working as you can create workspaces with your snap layouts!
4. Widgets for quick viewing...
Is this Windows tablet edition built into Windows 11? Drag from the left side of the screen for a mobile type interface, it makes checking the weather easier... new software and the Ipad OS or Mac OS are usually right up there!
5. Lighter Updates...
Windows updates are now 40% lighter! Background updating means you might lose those 'let's make a coffee whilst my PC updates' times. Microsoft knows this is a problem and as competitors make updates less stressful, we’re happy our PCs will be the same with Windows 11.
6. Haptics when using touch...
Haptics now give you feedback when using touch, we're used to it on our phones so maybe it'll work for tablets? That or it's a nice gimmick.
